WHAT TO EXPECT WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY

1. How can physical therapy help me?

A physical therapist can evaluate your condition and identify the source of your discomfort or dysfunction. Once evaluated, the therapist can develop a treatment program that will usually involve some form of manual therapy and exercise, as well as modalities if they are needed to treat the problem areas. You will also receive instruction in a home exercise program as well as education on proper body mechanics and posture to prevent re-injury.

2. What do I need to do to get started?

In Pennsylvania patients have the right to see a direct access Physical Therapist for 30 days of treatment of musculo-skeletal pain and injuries without a prescription from a doctor. Many insurances do cover treatment under Direct Access, however, in some cases, it may be necessary to get a prescription from your medical doctor to have the physical therapy treatment covered. A physical therapist may evaluate an individual without this prescription but in order to begin any treatment, the prescription must be obtained. Contact us today and we can get started. We will need your name, insurance information and whether your injury is work related or not. We can get you scheduled at one of our convenient locations. We will confirm that we participate with your insurance. Our goal is to offer new patients an appointment within 48 hours of your call. We can make special arrangements, however, to handle unique circumstances.

3. Does insurance cover physical therapy?

Medical insurance generally covers physical therapy treatment; however, each insurance plan is different. You should check with your insurance carrier to determine your exact coverage. Our staff will be glad to assist you in determining your benefits.
