Our Specialized Physical Therapy for Women can help with some common problems……….
Urinary Incontinence – Physical Therapy offers an effective non-surgical solution to urinary incontinence with or without the use of medication prescribed by your doctor. Our goal is to strengthen the pelvic floor musculature, and through re-education, regain the ability to inhibit inappropriate bladder contractions and promote coordinated contraction of the pelvic floor. The treatment program includes the use of specialized exercise, electrical stimulation and biofeedback. Most patients find significant improvement with as little as one treatment a week, for six weeks.
Pelvic Pain – includes symptoms of persistent, unexplained pain in the abdominal and pelvic tissues with no evidence of disease, as well as many painful pelvic conditions such as interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, post-surgical abdominal adhesions and pelvic floor tension myalgia. Treatment includes using pelvic floor exercise, intravaginal biofeedback, and electrical stimulation. The most important, however, are the manual therapies affecting the soft-tissue, inducing relaxation, facilitation flexibility and reducing adhesions.
| Pregnancy Pain – St. Luke’s Physical Therapy provides specialized care for patients who are pregnant or post-partum. The initial evaluation is designed to reveal soft-tissue laity, weakness and tone, pelvic malalignment, neurological involvement, postural problems and activities that are exacerbating the condition. Treatment includes specialized exercise, manual therapy to correct spinal and pelvic alignment as well as soft-tissue pain, activity modifications, and self-treatment strategies at home.
Osteoporosis – Our physical therapy treatment programs focus on strength, flexibility and postural control. We can develop personal, comprehensive, user-friendly regimens which can be done independently at home by older patients. Our treatment goals are to
minimize further bone loss, decrease pain, improve independent function, prevent injury and to teach patients how to help themselves.
